Broncos Hire Colleen McGuire as Assistant Coach

BOISE, Idaho – Colleen McGuire will join the Boise State beach volleyball coaching staff as an assistant coach, head coach Alex Venardos announced on Thursday.
McGuire was a former beach volleyball player at UC Davis, graduating from the team in 2024. She had a decorated career with the Aggies, earning all-conference all four years as a player. She also earned AVCA Top Flight recognition as a junior alongside her partner, Kylie Miller. She finished her senior campaign with a 21-14 mark, all at the No. 1 position, and her 75 career victories are the most in program history.

"Colleen brings a lot of tools to our coaching staff that will greatly benefit our student-athletes," Venardos said. "She has had a really unique experience as a collegiate beach athlete that will greatly help our program. She lives and breathes beach volleyball and brings every ounce of energy each day to the team. I'm really excited to add her to our program."

McGuire has previous experience against the Broncos, competing twice during the Boise State Classic. In 2024, McGuire scored the only point for the Aggies in a three-set victory at the No. 1 position. She also claimed a victory as a junior against the Broncos from the No. 2 position.

"I'm excited to share my experience as a former beach volleyball student-athlete and help this team navigate the day-to-day life of being a student-athlete. This program is known to value players as people while competing at a higher level and I'm excited to play a role."
Fans can get a first look at McGuire and the Broncos at the Blue and Orange scrimmage, which will take place on Sept. 25 at 2 p.m. MT at the Boise State Beach Volleyball Complex.
Boise State will kick off its fall season on Oct. 3 at the Alki AVCA Qualifier.
