Broncos Extend Shutout Streak in 2-0 Victory

10/6/2022 6:58:00 PM | Women's Soccer

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State women's soccer took down Air Force 2-0 for its second-straight Mountain West victory, Thursday evening at Boas Soccer Complex.

For the second-straight match Kenzie MacMillan scored a goal in the first five minutes, this time a wonderful volley set up by a corner kick from Morgan Stone in the fifth minute. The Boise State (6-2-6, 2-0-3 MW) defense only allowed Air Force (4-6-2, 1-3-1 MW) a single shot in the opening period and entered halftime with a one-goal lead.

Early in the second half a shot by Stone was saved by the Falcon goalkeeper, but the ball fell to Jayla Land who sent it home to double the Bronco lead. The Boise State defense limited the Air Force chances as the clock ran down to secure the victory.

Top Broncos Quotables
  • "We always have something else to learn," said head coach Jim Thomas. "We're always trying to get better at something, tweak something or add something. You saw a set piece goal today that we've worked hard on, and it's the same with the open-field play today as well. We're always trying to add a little something to what we do and that keeps it fresh."
  • "I'm really happy that we won today and that I could contribute to that win," said Jayla Land. "I feel like now we're really getting into a rhythm and we're going to peak at the perfect time."
Notables
  • Boise State has not allowed a goal in 665:33, a program record.
  • Boise State is undefeated (5-0-5) in its last ten matches, having not lost a match since Sept. 1. The 10-match unbeaten streak matches the longest in program history, set during the 2018 season.
  • The Broncos have blanked seven-straight opponents, extending its program-record for consecutive clean sheets.
  • Macie Nelson played in her 83rd-career match, moving her into a tie for fifth all-time in program history.
  • Boise State improves to 8-5-1 all-time against Air Force.
