Agbo scores career-high 24 points

CONWAY, S.C. – Chibuzo Agbo poured in a career-high 24 points as the Boise State men's basketball team came together for a 70-48 victory over Loyola Chicago on the second day of the 2022 Myrtle Beach Invitational.

The Broncos (2-2) got hot early, sinking each of their first five field goals to help build a 12-9 lead. A five-minute Boise State scoreless streak enabled the Ramblers (2-2) to come back to take a 20-19 lead with eight minutes left in the half. Tyson Degenhart scored four of his 12 first-half points to spark a 12-6 Boise State scoring run across the final five minutes of the half as the Broncos went into the locker room with a 31-26 lead.

Agbo came alive in the second half, scoring 17 of his game-high point total 24 in the period. The junior guard knocked down four second-half triples, including three as part of 16-unanswered points for Boise State that opened up a 60-37 lead with just over six minutes remaining in the half. The Broncos never looked back as they cruised the remainder of the way to their second victory of the season.

  • "I knew because of the quality opponent, I knew we had to play a good game," said head coach Leon Rice. "The team that played the good game was going to win tonight. We got clicking and that was the most complete game we've played hands-down. That's to be expected because we have a lot of new guys and guys who are figuring their role. We're just kind of settling in as a team but we made a huge jump tonight."
