BOISE, Idaho – Six Broncos were named Academic All-District for women's soccer by College Sports Communicators (formerly known as CoSIDA), earlier this week. Genevieve Crenshaw, Carly Cross, Kenzie MacMillan, Payton McBride, Jocelyn Stephens, Morgan Stone were each selected by the organization for their excellence both on the field and in the classroom.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve on their respective teams and hold a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.0 scale.
Crenshaw is a health studies major who led the Bronco goalkeeping stable this season. The Mountain West all-conference first teamer posted 10 shutouts on the year including a program-record nine-straight as part of a 10-match unbeaten streak for Boise State.
Cross is a sophomore pre-business major who started 17 games at forward for the Broncos this season, scoring a goal and assisting three others. Fellow sophomore and pre-business major Kenzie MacMillan was named to the award after scoring four goals for the Blue and Orange this season.
McBride (majoring in sociology) and Stephens (majoring in chemistry) each earned the award after playing a major role in the Bronco backline that posted the lowest goals against average in the Mountain West this season. Stephens was named a MW all-conference first-team defender at the end of the season.
Stone is an entrepreneurship management major who was second on the team with 13 points, scoring four goals and notching five assists while starting all 20 matches this season. The Boulder, Colo., native was named an all-conference second team midfielder when the league announced postseason honors in October.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
