Boise State Closes Nonconference with Loss to Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Boise State men's basketball dropped its nonconference finale with a 73-58 loss to Santa Clara, Thursday afternoon at the Leavey Center.Â
The Blue and Orange (10-3) went into the break at halftime with a 36-34 lead, but Santa Clara (12-3) opened the second half with a 22-5 run to go up by 17 points at the under-8 media timeout. Boise State made three field goals during that stretch.Â
Boise State was able to tighten things up defensively late in the second half and held Santa Clara to zero field goals for five minutes and 26 seconds during the final 10 minutes.Â

Boise State concludes the nonconference slate with a 10-3 record. The Broncos return to action with their Mountain West opener at Nevada, Dec. 28.Â
