Santa Clara opens second half on 22-5 run

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Boise State men's basketball dropped its nonconference finale with a 73-58 loss to Santa Clara, Thursday afternoon at the Leavey Center.

The Blue and Orange (10-3) went into the break at halftime with a 36-34 lead, but Santa Clara (12-3) opened the second half with a 22-5 run to go up by 17 points at the under-8 media timeout. Boise State made three field goals during that stretch.

Boise State was able to tighten things up defensively late in the second half and held Santa Clara to zero field goals for five minutes and 26 seconds during the final 10 minutes.

Top Broncos

Tyson Degenhart had 11 points, nine rebounds and two assists.
Chibuzo Agbo scored a team-high 12 points.
Kobe Young had five points and three rebounds off the bench.

Notables

Boise State went 10-3 in nonconference games this season – the sixth time in program history with double-digit nonconference wins. Five have come under Leon Rice's tenure.
Tyson Degenhart's nine rebounds is a new career high.
Max Rice posted his fourth game with 10 points and five rebounds.
