PALM DESERT, Calif. – Boise State women's golf finished runner-up at the Mountain Classic Match Play at the Classic Club, Feb. 14-15.

The Blue and Orange garnered victories in its first two match-play rounds against Montana State (3.5-1.5) and Portland State (5-0) to earn a spot in Tuesday's championship match against Seattle.

"I am very proud of the team's performances on Monday," said head coach Kailin Downs. "They ultimately gave us the opportunity to compete in today's championship match. The team battled against Seattle, and although we fell short, I believe this tournament will serve as a great foundation for our spring season."

QUARTERFINAL vs. MONTANA STATE
The Broncos opened their spring campaign with a first-round victory over Montana State Monday morning, winning three-of-five matches and halving another to advance to the semifinals. Sophomore trio Elli Gordon (5&4), Franca Polla (7&6) and Emma Yang (4&3) each secured a point for the team.

SEMIFINAL vs. PORTLAND STATE
Monday afternoon, Boise State swept its semifinal matchup against Portland State. Gordon and Polla picked up their second match titles of the day, dominating 5&3 and 4&3, respectively.

CHAMPIONSHIP vs. SEATTLE
Featuring winds upward of 30 mph, Tuesday's championship round was tightly contested as both Lexi Perry and Polla's matches played through the final hole. Perry prevailed over Seattle's Samantha Bruce, winning 2 UP, and Gordon also captured a point for the Broncos to remain perfect on the weekend, going up four with two to play.

Next, Boise State travels to Phoenix, Ariz., to compete in the GCU Invitational, Feb. 28-March 1.
