LAKE CHARLES, La. – Kelsey Hall homered twice and drove in three runs to lead Boise State to a 4-1 victory over McNeese State in nonconference softball, Friday.
Hall belted a leadoff home run for the second-straight game to begin a 4-for-4 afternoon. The Cowgirls (10-10) answered with a run in the bottom of the first and the game remained tied 1-1 through four innings.
An RBI-single by Hall in the fifth gave Boise State (18-5) a 2-1 lead. Serena Huchingson homered in the sixth and Hall capped the scoring with another long ball in the seventh.
"Kelsey (Hall) is awesome. She is a little bit of an unorthodox leadoff hitter with the power she has," Boise State Head Coach Justin Shults said. "She does a really good job of competing and has the ability to put us up 1-0 like she did today when she gets a pitch to hit."
Hannah Bailey (7-1) went the distance for Boise State tossing a four-hitter.
"Hannah did a great job of attacking the strike zone," Shults said. "It was a little bit of a hitter-friendly zone today and she kept the ball on the ground and allowed our defense to make plays behind her."
Boise State and McNeese State wrap up their three-game series, Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. CT/noon MT.
