LAKE CHARLES, La. – Boise State rallied in both games of a doubleheader to complete a three-game sweep of McNeese State, Saturday.
The Broncos (20-5) won 7-4 and 4-1 to complete a five-game road trip with four victories.
"I'm really proud of our resiliency and the response today after getting behind early," Boise State Head Coach Justin Shults said. "Hannah (Bailey) was much more efficient than Friday. She did a good job of attacking the strike zone and getting us a lot of ground balls."
In the opener, the Cowgirls (10-12) tallied four runs in the second for an early lead. The Broncos had an immediate response as Kelsey Lalor singled home two runs in the third and Serena Huchingson scored on a passed ball.
Alycia Flores tied the game with a sacrifice fly in the fourth and Eliyah Flores put Boise State on top 5-4 with an RBI-single in the fifth.
Kelsey Hall and Huchingson each homered in the sixth to provide some insurance for Taylor Caudill (7-3), who tossed a three-hitter.
In the nightcap, the Broncos fell behind when McNeese State scored in the first. Lalor tied the score with an RBI-double in the fourth and Eliyah Flores delivered a two-run triple for a 3-1 lead.
Boise State again played add on late as Hall collected an RBI-single in the seventh. Hannah Bailey (8-1) struck out six while limiting the Cowgirls to four hits.
The Broncos host Fresno State for their first home games of the season, March 18-20. Updated game times for the series are 4 p.m., 1 p.m. and 11 a.m.
