THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE

March 13, 2022 vs. Idaho
  • Boise, Idaho (Boas Indoor Tennis Center)

WHAT IS HAPPENING
The Broncos (2-1) will continue their four-match homestand this Sunday when they host instate-rival Idaho (3-4) at 3 p.m. (Mountain) at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center. There is a potential of moving outside to the Appleton Tennis Center pending the weather; check our website schedule the day of each match to verify the location.

THE SERIES
Sunday's contest will be the 39th meeting of the series since the 1985-86 campaign, with the Broncos owning a commanding 26-12 advantage all-time. However, the Vandals won 4-1 the last time these two programs met in Boise on March 25, 2018. They were scheduled to meet during the previous two seasons, but both contests fell victim to the COVID pandemic.

COVID PROTOCOLS LIFTED
Boise State has lifted its COVID protocols for the rest of the season for both the Boas Indoor Tennis Center and Appleton Tennis Center, removing the limits on capacity and mask mandate. However, fans are still encouraged to wear masks.

ADMISSION
Admission to Boise State tennis matches is free of charge.

FOLLOW LIVE
Fans who cannot attend the matches can follow the action via live scoring; a link is available on the schedule page.

DELAYED START
Boise State's women's tennis program experienced a delay to the start of their team dual season for health and safety concerns related to the COVID pandemic. As a result, the Broncos were scheduled to open play on Feb. 4-5 in Provo, Utah, but were forced to delay that start until Feb. 26, when they faced 28th-ranked Washington. Three matches were canceled versus Dixie State, BYU, and UTEP, while one contest versus Idaho State was moved to last weekend (March 4).

LAST TIME OUT
Boise State opened a four-match homestand last weekend with a pair of victories over Idaho State (7-0) and Portland State (6-1) to improve to 2-1 overall. A pair of juniors, Joana Baptista and Holly Stewart led the Blue and Orange, with both Broncos going at 4-0. Baptista went 2-0 at No. 2 singles and 2-0 at No. 1 doubles while playing with Nicole Discenza. Meanwhile, Stewart went 2-0 at No. 3 singles and 2-0 at No. 2 doubles with Shauna Heffernan. Neither Bronco lost a set over the weekend.

LEADING THE BRONCOS
Six Broncos have recorded double-digit victories on the year, including the fall and spring seasons. Holly Stewart leads the group at 13-5, followed by Joana Baptista at 12-3, Nicole Discenza at 12-4, Bhakti Shah at 12-7, Pauline Ernstberger at 11-4, and Ana Conde Vendrell at 10-5.

In doubles play, the tandem competing at No. 1 is Baptista and Discenza, where they are 2-1 this spring and 4-2 on the year. Stewart and Shauna Heffernan have gone 2-0 at No. 2 doubles in team duals and are 4-1 overall. Also in doubles, Stewart has gone 11-4 overall with four different partners, while Discenza is 10-5 on the year with four teammates.
