Broncos Fall To Aztecs on the Road

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Boise State women's tennis had its four-match winning streak snapped as it fell to San Diego State 4-0 on the road, Saturday afternoon.
The Broncos (4-2, 0-1 MW) were the winners of their last four matches headed into Saturday's contest. The battle against the Aztecs (9-4, 1-0 MW) was the first Mountain West competition of the season for Boise State.
In doubles play Boise State fell on court one before Holly Stewart and Shauna Heffernan secured a dominant 6-1 victory on court two to even things up. Pauline Ernstberger and Ana Conde Vendrell battled in their No. 3 match, but fell 6-2 in the end as the Aztecs took the doubles point and went up 1-0 heading into singles play.
San Diego State took the first three singles matches of the day on courts two, three and five to secure the victory. Holly Stewart fought hard in her No. 3 singles match, but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-3 as the Aztecs claimed the match. Shauna Heffernan's match on court six was headed to a third set before it was left unfinished, and Ana Conde Vendrell was leading her court-four match at the time the Aztecs clinched.
Boise State faces a quick turnaround as it takes on UNLV tomorrow (March 27) at 11 a.m. MT. The Rebels enter the contest 11-2 and are 1-0 in MW play after defeating Utah State this afternoon.
