Colorado State Defeats Broncos in MW Play

LARAMIE, Wyo. - Boise State women's tennis began the weekend with a 4-1 Mountain West Conference loss Friday afternoon to Colorado State in Laramie, Wyo. The Broncos claimed the team doubles point but came up short in singles as the Rams rallied for the win.
Ana Conde Vendrell and Pauline Ernstberger struck first in doubles as they defeated the Rams' Tracy Guo and Lucia Natal 6-3 on court three; it's the seventh win of the season for the Boise State duo.
The clinching victory in doubles came at the No. 2 position, where Shauna Heffernan and Holly Stewart beat Radka Buzkova and Matea Mihaljevic 6-3 as the Bronco tandem improved their team-best record to 11-2 overall and 9-1 this spring.
Ernsteberger led the Blue and Orange in singles. The junior rallied from a set down to force her contest into a third before falling 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to Buzkova in the match that clinched the win for the Rams.
Colorado State also claimed victories on courts four, three and two to set up the clincher at No. 1 singles.
Boise State will take its 7-5 overall record and 3-4 league mark into tomorrow's match versus Wyoming at 10 a.m. (MT) in Laramie.
