Fitzgerald Named Freshman of the Week

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State track and field student-athlete Angus Fitzgerald was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week, following his record-breaking performance at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., April 14.
The Thousand, Oak, Calif., native raced his way to a school record in the men's 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in a time of 1:49.18 and registering a top-25 finish in a field of nearly 200 athletes.
Fitzgeralds' mark narrowly bested David Elliott's 2015 time of 1:49.48, as he became just the third Bronco in school history to clock a sub-1:50 800m time.
His time ranks second in the conference and first among freshmen.
Following a week off, Boise State will travel to Fresno, Calif., to compete at the Fresno State Invitational, April 30.
