BOISE, Idaho – UNLV hit four home runs and knocked off No. 23 Boise State in Mountain West softball, Saturday.
In front of a Dona Larsen park record 732 fans, the Rebels (26-6, 4-1 MW) clinched the weekend series against the host Broncos (27-7, 6-2).
"We are letting moments get too big for us," Boise State Head Coach Justin Shults said. "For the second day in a row, UNLV played good softball and we lost our composure in a couple of crucial situations."
Boise State took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Kelsey Hall led off with a double and Alycia Flores walked. Both runners moved up on a sacrifice by Kelsey Lalor and Hall came home on a ground out by Bella Rocco. Alison Seng followed with a single to plate Flores.
After the Rebels scored three times in the top of the second, Eliyah Flores hit a line drive home run in the home half of the frame to tie the game 3-3.
UNLV took the lead with a run in the third off Taylor Caudill (11-5) and added three in the fourth against Sara Johnson.
Jenny Bressler (14-4), who threw a five-inning, one-hit shutout, Friday, blanked Boise State on five hits in a five-inning relief stint to pick up her second win in two days.
The Broncos and Rebels conclude their three-game series, Sunday with first pitch scheduled for noon.
