BOISE, Idaho – UNLV completed a three-game Mountain West series sweep of Boise State with an 8-5 victory at Dona Larsen Park, Sunday.
The Rebels (27-6, 5-1 MW) broke open a 1-1 tie with a six-run fifth inning when they sent 11 batters to the plate to take a 7-1 lead.
Boise State (27-8, 6-3) responded with a home run by Kelsey Hall, her team-leading ninth of the season, and a RBI-double by Kelsey Lalor in the bottom of the frame. The Broncos got the tying run to the plate in the inning, but Alison Seng flied out to end the threat.
After UNLV added a run in the sixth, the Broncos answered with two runs on a run-scoring double by Eliyah Flores and an RBI-ground out by Lalor.
"We have a big week of preparation with an off week from conference play," Boise State Head Coach Justin Shults said. "If we do that, we have a great chance to get ourselves back in the conference race."
Jenny Bressler (15-4) earned a third win of the weekend with an inning of relief. Hannah Bailey (9-2) started and suffered the loss for Boise State.
The three-game series drew a Boise State record 1,848 fans. The Broncos are off until, Tuesday, April 12 when they host Idaho State for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
