BOISE, Idaho - Boise State women's tennis came up on the short end of a 4-1 score to Fresno State on Friday at Boise. The Broncos won the team doubles point, but that was not enough as the Bulldogs rallied in singles claiming four-straight wins.

Boise State moved to 7-7 overall and 3-6 in league play, while Fresno State claimed the Mountain West Championship on Friday as the Bulldogs improved to 19-3 and 9-0.

Shauna Heffernan and Holly Stewart claimed a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles versus Carolina Piferi and C. Nonnis Marzano as the Broncos took the early lead.

After the Bulldogs had tied the doubles score at 1-1, Boise State's Ana Conde Vendrell and Pauline Ernstberger clinched the team point with a 7-5 win over A.C. Hummel and Cristina Flaquer on court three. That proved to be the only point of the day for the Blue and Orange.

Boise State would take three of the six singles matches to third sets before it was finished. However, Fresno State rallied with wins at the six, one and two positions to close within one of the victory.

The Bulldog's Flaquer clinched the win when she outlasted Boise State's Stewart in three sets on court three, taking it 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.

The Broncos will close out the regular season at 2 p.m. Saturday when they host the San Jose State Spartans in the day's second contest; Fresno State and Utah State will play at 10 a.m. Both matches Saturday will be played at the Appleton Tennis Center.
