COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Simon Arca Costas, Pedro Liborio and Caden Moortgat received Mountain West Conference men's tennis postseason honors on Friday, announced by the league's office in Colorado Springs, Colo. The trio was among the 18 student-athletes to receive conference honors in 2022.
Liborio has been named the MW Co-Freshman of the Year and All-MW in singles. Arca Costas is All-MW in both singles and doubles, while Moortgat joins Arca Costas for the doubles recognition.Â
Liborio's MW Freshman of the Year accolade is the first postseason individual conference award earned by a Bronco since Kyle Butters was named freshman of the year in 2016. The freshman from Caldas Da Rainha, Portugal, is the sixth Boise State student-athlete to be named a conference freshman of the year all-time.Â
In addition, Liborio was named to the All-MW Singles Team. He played the team dual season at the No. 1 position for the Broncos, going 2-3 in league contests and 7-10 in all duals. Liborio was named MW Freshman of the Week a league-high five times during the season.Â
Arca Costas is no stranger to postseason conference honors, as this marks the third consecutive year that he has been recognized. The Vigo, Spain, native returns to the honor roll in 2022 as a member of the All-MW Singles and All-MW Doubles Teams, making him a four-time honoree. His previous awards include singles accolades in 2020 and doubles in 2021.Â
This year Arca Costas went 18-11 in singles and 12-9 in dual play, 11-6 at the No. 2 position. He is now ranked 20th all-time for singles victories at Boise State with 71.Â
Moortgat and Arca Costas went 10-6 overall in team duals and 8-6 at No. 1 doubles this spring. This award is the first All-MW honor Moortgat has received in his two-year career. Â Â
