SENIOR (2023-24)

  • Honors: Mountain West Championship All-Tournament Team at No. 2 Doubles.
  • Notable Statistics & Rankings: Finished singles with a 10-7 record, went 1-1 in spring duals...went 19-17 in doubles overall, 10-11 in duals, 9-6 in tournaments and 3-1 in conference play, 9-9 at No. 2 position.
  • Fall Season: Saw action in three fall tournaments going 8-5 in singles and 8-3 in doubles...reached consolation singles final at the ITA Mountain Region Championship (Sept. 28-Oct. 1) before falling to teammate Jett Middleton in two sets...advanced to the main draw semifinal round in doubles with Jan Lucca Marquardt at the ITA Bedford Cup in the Mountains (Sept. 22-24)...made the quarterfinal round in doubles with James Van Herzeele at the ITA Mountain Region Championship.
  • Spring Season: Played in 24 duals during the season primarily as a doubles specialist...went 1-1 in singles...was 10-11 in doubles during the team dual season...was 9-9 at No. 2 doubles, including 6-1 with Middleton as his partner...helped Boise State sweep MW titles winning the regular season and tournament championships. 

JUNIOR (2022-23)

  • Notable Statistics & Rankings: Went 17-13 in singles and 19-24 in doubles...36 combined wins on the year.
  • Fall Season: Played in three tournaments during fall schedule going 7-5 in singles play...won the title of the ITA Bedford Cup in the Mountains (Sept. 23-25)...went 9-1 in doubles splitting time with Simon Arca Costas (5-1) and Sam Sippel (4-0)...won the ITA Bedford Cup in the Mountains doubles title with Sippel.
  • Spring Season: Played singles in 26 team duals going 10-8 in contests completed, splitting time between the No. 2-6 positions...also went 2-2 at North Carolina's Allen Morris Invitational (Jan. 13-16)...in doubles play, tallied a 10-24 mark overall...saw doubles action in 28 team duals going 8-18...played at all three positions with four different partners...went 4-2 along side Idriss Haddouch on court two, including an NCAA Tournament First Round victory over Arizona's No. 2 duo (May 5). 

SOPHOMORE (2021-22)

  • Honors: All-Mountain West in Doubles...Academic All-Mountain West.
  • Notable Statistics & Rankings: Ended the year with a 11-20 overall record in singles and a 13-13 mark in doubles.
  • Fall Season: Competed in three tournaments during the fall going 4-6 in singles...won the consolation title of his flight at the Bulldog Invite (Oct. 27-29) at Gonzaga going 3-1...went 2-5 in doubles.
  • Spring Season: Finished the spring at 7-14 in singles splitting time between the three and four positions, was 4-8 at No. 3 and 3-6 at the four...in doubles he went 11-8 during the team duals season playing primarily with Simon Arca Costas, the duo went 10-8 overall and 2-1 in conference matches...they were 1-1 versus nationally ranked teams including a win over Idaho State’s 37th-ranked tandem at the time of Aleksandar Petrovic and Patrik Trhac. 

FRESHMAN (2020-21)  

  • Honors: Academic All-Mountain West.
  • Notable Statistics & Rankings: Finished year 3-0 in singles and 9-5 in doubles with a 3-2 MW mark. 
  • Fall Season: There was no fall season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. 
  • Spring Season: Saw action in four singles matches playing at the six where he went 3-0, all in straight sets...saw action in 15 doubles contests going a combined 9-5 overall and 3-2 in Mountain West Conference play...started the season off playing alongside Lukas Ridemar going 4-2 on court two...went 2-1 with Michael Bott at the second position...finished campaign competing with Lawrence Sciglitano going 3-2 at No. 2. 

PRIOR TO COLLEGE

  • High School: A 2020 graduate of Plano West High School...a six-time Texas 6A All-State selection, two-time state champion and four-time team captain...as a senior, helped PWHS to a runner-up finish at the Texas 6A Team State Championship where he won his singles contest in the title match...he won the 2018-19 Texas 6A mixed doubles championship and was a member of the Wolves’ Texas State Team Championship in 2016-17...also reached the state semifinals in boys doubles twice.
  • Junior Tennis: Played in numerous junior tennis tournaments throughout the United States and was a four-star recruit according to the Tennis Recruiting Network...his United States Tennis Association (USTA) rankings include being ranked as high as No. 80 nationally and No. 5 in the Texas Section…a two-time winner of a USTA National Level 2 doubles tournament championship, took third at a USTA National Level 2 singles championship and was a 2019 USTA National Champions 5.0+.

PERSONAL

  • Caden is the son of former Boise State women’s (1996-98) and men’s (1999-2002) head coach Jim Moortgat and brother to former Bronco women’s tennis player Camryn...he was born in Boise and grew up loving the Broncos...in 2014 his family moved to Plano, Texas.
