MARICOPA, Ariz. – Sophomore Franca Polla registered a second-place finish as the Boise State women's golf team placed sixth overall at the Cowgirl Classic in Maricopa, Ariz., April 4-5.

Polla (76-67-72—215) fired 5-under in the second round, the lowest round of any individual in the tournament, and the fourth-lowest round in Bronco history.

Additionally, her 54-hole total tied for the fifth-lowest in school history, and her 36-hole score of 143 tied for sixth.

"Franca's overcome some challenges in the past couple of weeks, so to see her bounce back and perform the way she did in this tournament is extremely exciting," head coach Kailin Downs said. "I've known she was capable of a round like that (67), because she has done it in the past. Her overall performance this week shows what she is capable of when she plays her game."

The Broncos' team score of 888 (303-291-294, +24) tied for the seventh-lowest three-round total in stroke and relationship to par in program history.

"I still don't feel that we played the best we could have for three entire rounds," Downs said. However, the team competed all week and we recorded a decent finish in a talented field of programs. Although we ended up taking sixth, we were only three strokes outside a top-three finish. I am looking forward to building on this confidence and taking it into the last few weeks of the regular season."

Fifth-year senior Lexi Perry tied for 17th, carding rounds of 73-74-74 (+5). She recorded her fourth top-25 finish of the season, and the 20th of her career, tied for fourth in program history.

Rounding out Boise State's scoring were senior Elena Castanon (75-74-73, +6), sophomore Elli Gordon (79-78-75, +16) and fifth-year senior Nicole Suppelsa (81-76078, +19).

Freshman Hannah Lim also represented the Blue and Orange as an individual (77-77-77, +15).

Next, the Broncos travel to University Place, Wash., for the Chambers Bay Invitational, April 11-12.
