SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Boise State's beach volleyball team opened the weekend in Sacramento, Calif., with a pair of wins as the Broncos defeated Sacramento State 5-0 and Santa Clara 4-1. The victories stretched Boise State's wins streak to seven and moved its school record for wins to 17.

Three Boise State pairs, Rorianna Chartier and Sierra Land, Danielle Boss and Madison Nichols, and Joey Benson and Emilia Guerra-Acuna, swept their matches on the day to lead the team.

Boise State started with an early lead in the opener against the Sacramento State Hornets as the Hornets forfeited at the No. 5 pair. That was followed by four Bronco wins.

On court one, seniors Erin Martin and Yasmin Tan won in two sets over Sacramento State's top duo of Caitlin Volkmann and Bridgette Smith, 21-18, 21-14. Boss and Nichols, as well as Benson and Guerra-Acuna, also won in straight sets. Boss and Nichols took No. 3 pair 21-16, 22-20, while Benson and Guerra-Acuna recorded a hard-fought victory, 21-18, 24-22 on curt four.

The Boise State tandem of Chartier and Land were taken to three sets before putting away their opponents Kalani Hayes and Macey Hayden 21-18, 15-21, 15-8 at the No. 2 position.

The second contest of the afternoon versus Santa Clara was the season's rubber match as the two teams had split two earlier meetings. The Blue and Orange Broncos came out on top 4-1 in the battle of the Broncos.

Boise State won all four of its victories in straight sets. Chartier and Land downed Casey Campbell and Julia Sangiacomo, 21-14, 21-12, at No. 2 pair to move to 14 wins on the season.

Boss and Nichols defeated their opponents at No. 3 pair, 21-11, 21-14, while Benson and Guerra-Acuna won 21-15, 21-10 on court four. Both pairs moved to a team-high 16 wins on the year.

Kaylee Mejia and Sharli O'Neil began their weekend of competition at No. 5 pair winning their lone contest of the day in dominating fashion 21-12, 21-7, recording their 11th victory overall.

The Broncos will be back in action Saturday at Sacramento when they face Sacramento State for a second time, followed by an encounter with San Jose State.
