Broncos Qualify 13 for NCAA West Preliminary Round

BOISE, Idaho – Thirteen Boise State track and field student-athletes qualified for the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field West Preliminary Round, the NCAA announced, Thursday. The west preliminary will be held in Fayetteville, Ark., May 25-28

Kristie Schoffield highlighted the Blue and Orange's qualifiers, ranking third in the women's 800-meter race after clocking a personal-record time of 2:02.45 at the Mountain West Championships.

The other six women to qualify are Dafni Georgiou (100m hurdles), Ashley Lajocies (3,000m steeplechase), Maggie Larson (triple jump), Yasmin Marghini (5,000m), MaLeigha Menegatti (800m) and Nyenuchi Okemgbo (400m hurdles).

This will be Schoffield's fourth appearance at the west preliminary and Georgiou and Menegatti's second.

On the men's side, six Broncos earned a trip to Arkansas.

The 5,000m and 10,000m races will each feature two Boise State men, as Dario De Caro and Jonathan Shields qualified in the 5,000m race, and Miler Haller and Logan Rees are both slated to compete in the 10,000m race.

Additionally, Angus Fitzgerald and Murdoch McIntyre will compete at the west preliminary in the 800m race and 3,000m steeplechase, respectively.

Both De Caro and Shields have previous experience racing at the west preliminary, participating in College Station, Texas in 2021.
