BOISE, Idaho – Kristie Schoffield, the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field 800-meter National Champion, was named the Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Women's Athlete of the Year, the conference announced Wednesday.

Schoffield is just the third woman in Boise State history to earn the award, joining Allie Ostrander (2017-19) and Emma Bates (2014).

The honor comes on the heels of Schoffield being named the West Region Women's Track Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

During the final of the women's 800m race at the NCAA Championships, Schoffield clocked a MW record, school record and PR time of 201.09 to win the event and earn her sixth-career All-America honor.

She became just the fourth woman in Bronco track and field history, third in outdoor to capture an individual national championship, joining Eleni Kafourou (2009, indoor long jump), Emma Bates (2014, outdoor, 10,000m) and Allie Ostrander (2017-19, outdoor 3,000m steeplechase).

A native of Concord, N.H., Schoffield capped a postseason that saw her record the fastest time in the MW preliminaries and final and the NCAA preliminaries, quarterfinals and semifinals prior to her championship run.

Next, Schoffield plans to compete at the USATF Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 23-26.
