NORMAN, Okla. – For the second-straight season Boise State men's golfer Hugo Townsend earned All-America honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America, the organization announced this week.
Townsend was named 2022 NCAA Division I PING All-America Honorable Mention, becoming the first Bronco to earn multiple All-America honors in a career after being named to the third team in his junior campaign. The Swede was also named a member of the NCAA Division I PING All-West Region team for the second-straight season.
The Swede, who ended the year ranked No. 28 in the nation by GolfStat, shot a blistering 69.74 per round this season, the second-lowest single-season average in Boise State history. The two-time Mountain West Men's Golfer of the Year posted a top-25 finish in each of the Broncos' tournaments this season (12) and counted an impressive 33 of his 34 rounds played toward the team's tournament score.
At the 2022 MW Championship, Townsend finished runner-up after shooting a final-round 67 to mount a furious comeback that had him tied for the lead until the final hole. The senior was also the Broncos' top finisher at the NCAA Bryan Regional, shooting 1-under to finish tied for 12th.
Townsend and the Broncos recently concluded a historic season in which the team won two tournaments in a season for the first time in nearly three decades, and made back-to-back appearances at the NCAA Regionals for the first time in program history.
