BOISE, Idaho – Boise State Director of Tennis Beck Roghaar has announced the hiring of Jordan Gobatie as the new assistant coach for the women's tennis program.
"Jordan's energy and passion for developing student-athletes on and off the court stood out very early in the process for us," said Roghaar. "He has played an integral role in helping Arizona State achieve a top-20 ranking, and he brings a wealth of knowledge and skills that will impact our program in positive ways right from the jump. Jordan is a relentless worker and wonderful servant leader. His work with some of college tennis' top players is going to add a lot of value to the incredible group of young women we have here in the program."
"I'm incredibly excited to get to work at Boise State," said Gobatie. "There's a special culture here and I can't wait to get to work. I want to thank coach Roghaar and the administration for the opportunity, and I look forward to helping Boise State reach new heights."
Gobatie joins the Broncos after spending two seasons as the volunteer assistant coach at Arizona State. In his two seasons the Sun Devils posted a 32-17 record, including a run to the final of the Pac-12 Championships in 2022. Gobatie helped guide Arizona State to back-to-back trips to the NCAA tournament, earning a win in each appearance.
Prior to his time with the Sun Devils, Gobatie was the assistant women's tennis coach at Northern Arizona for the 2018-19 season. That year he helped the Lumberjacks sweep the Big Sky regular season and claim their first tournament title since 1999. He coached five players to All-Big Sky honors including Chiara Tomasetti who picked up the Big Sky Most Valuable Player award. Tomasetti also recorded a program-best No. 44 singles ranking under Gobatie's guidance. NAU advanced to the NCAA Tournament for just the second time in program history, snapping a 20-year drought, and finished the 2018-19 season with a 15-9 record and 9-1 mark in league play.
Gobatie was a student-athlete for Northern Arizona's men's tennis program from 2013-15 after beginning his career at Riverside Community College. In 2015, Gobatie earned first team All-Big Sky honors after recording 22 wins and a team-best 10 doubles victories.
