SPRINGVILLE, Utah – The Boise State women's golf team finished atop the leaderboard in its season-opening tournament at the Hobble Creek Fall Classic, Sept. 12-13, clearing the competition by 18 strokes.

The Broncos' score of 883 (299-293-291, +31) is the seventh-lowest 54-hole total in program history and the team's final-round score ties for the ninth-lowest single-round total of all time.

Junior Hyeji (Emma) Yang led the Broncos, carding rounds of 77-70-73 (+7) to garner her second-career top-five finish, and in her collegiate debut, freshman Leia Chung shot 8-over par en route to tying for sixth place.

Top Broncos

Hyeji (Emma) Yang carded Boise State's lowest 54-hole total of the competition, finishing fifth, just four strokes out of medalist honors.
Hyeji (Emma) Yang registered a career-low single-round score, firing 1-under-par 70 during the second round of the tournament.
Freshman Leia Chung (75-74-72, +8) posted the Broncos' second-lowest performance, notching a sixth-place finish.
In addition to Yang and Chung, juniors Elli Gordon and Franca Polla, fifth-year senior Elena Castanon and sophomore Hannah Lim registered top-25 finishes.

Notables

This is the first tournament title under head coach Kailin Downs, who is in her second season at the helm of the Broncos.
It is the team's first victory since capturing the team title at the Mountain Classic Match Play, Feb. 15-16, 2021.
Boise State's three-round total of 883 is the seventh-lowest in program history.
The team's final-round score of 291 ties for the ninth-lowest single-round total all-time.
Chico State transfer Kelsey Blaylock and freshmen Annie Buffolino, Leia Chung and Macee Greenwood all made their Boise State debuts at the Hobble Creek Fall Classic.
