Broncos Advance On Day One Of BCC

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State women's tennis team advanced two teams to the semifinals of the top flight of the Barb Chandler Classic, Friday.
Joana Baptista and Nicole Discenza opened the day for the Broncos, rebounding for a 2-1 aggregate victory after dropping the doubles match 6-3. Baptista looked comfortable in the third-set of her match, winning 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, while Discenza won a must-win second-set tiebreaker 7-2 before going on to win 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-3.
Pauline Ernstberger and Holly Stewart were dominant in their first-round matchup, taking the doubles match 6-1 to enter singles play with a lead. Ernstberger impressed with a flawless 6-0, 6-0 victory in her singles match, while Stewart also cruised to a straight-set win, 6-1, 6-2.
The Barb Chandler Classic continues with second-round action tomorrow beginning at 10 a.m. MT at Appleton Tennis Center
