SAN JOSE, Calif. – Boise State volleyball came up on the short end of a 3-1 score at San Jose State on Thursday night in a Mountain West contest. The loss moved Boise State to 10-4 overall and 2-1 in league play, while SJSU improved to 9-4 overall and 3-0 in the conference.
The Broncos opened with an impressive first set winning it by nine points while hitting .400 percent. The Blue and Orange had five service aces and six blocks as they dominated the Spartans.
But Boise State struggled to hit in the final three sets and found itself playing from behind most of the time. Every time the Broncos made a run, San Jose State answered.
After falling decisively in set two, the Broncos regrouped to hang with the Spartans as sets three and four saw a combined 14 ties and seven lead changes. In the end, it was San Jose State's night as it outhit the Broncos .323 percent to .150 percent.

- Paige Bartsch led the Broncos with 12 kills to lead Boise State for the eighth time and reach double-figure kills for the 11th time…she finished with a team-high 14.5 points.
- Lauren Ohlinger added eight kills, one service ace and three blocks – one solo – to finish with 11 points.
- Annie Kaminski hit .455 percent for five kills to go with two block assists.
- Allison Casillas recorded a team-high 10 digs, giving her 11 matches in double-digits this season.
- Boise State still leads the all-time series against the Spartans, but the advantage is shrinking to 22-21; they are tied at 19 in conference wins.
- Boise State travels to Reno, Nev., Friday to face the Nevada Wolf Pack at noon on Saturday in the Virginia Street Gym.
