Broncos Draw With Aggies On the Road

9/8/2022 1:18:00 PM | Women's Soccer

Davis, Calif. – Boise State women's soccer found goals from Grace Sommers and Evva Vail as it drew with UC Davis, 2-2, Thursday afternoon on the road.

The Broncos (2-2-2) opened the scoring in the first half as Sommers took a ball from Kenzie MacMillan and smashed it to the far side of the net. Boise State defended well for the remainder of the period and entered the break with the lead.

In the 71st minute the Aggies (3-2-2) tied things up when Genevieve Fontes snuck a ball inside the near post. Boise State responded well just two minutes later as Ashly Berge deflected a ball to Vail who scored and reclaimed the lead for her team. In the final act of the match, UC Davis sent a ball in front of the Bronco goal that bounced over the head of goalkeeper Genevieve Crenshaw and into the net, forcing the draw.

Quotable
  • "I thought we played really really well," said head coach Jim Thomas. "One thing we're looking for long term is whether or not we are preparing in the right way to give ourselves a chance to win the game. I thought our preparation this week was exemplary, and I thought the execution the players put out there of that preparation was as good as we're ever going to get."
  • "The bigger picture for me is how well we played, how well we executed and how well we prepared," said Thomas. "If we keep doing that the results will come our way."
