Broncos Reach Open Quarterfinals and Consolation Finals at ITA Regionals

USAFA, Colo. – Boise State men's tennis concluded four days of competition at the ITA Mountain Regional. Four Broncos participated in the meet, with Jip van Assendelft reaching the singles quarterfinals after winning his first three matches of the weekend. James Van Herzeele qualified for the singles round of 16 with wins in his first two matches, while Caden Moortgat and Jett Middleton reached the consolation finals in singles play. The teammates played each other in the final, with Middleton earning a 6-2, 7-6 (2) win.

Notables

Jip Van Assendelft went 3-1 in singles, advancing to the open quarterfinals.
James van Herzeele won his first two singles matches to advance to the Round of 16.
After an opening-round loss, Caden Moortgat won four-straight singles matches to advance to the consolation finals. Repeating that path was teammate Jett Middleton.
In the consolation final, Middleton defeated Moortgat in two sets.
Middleton and van Assendelft won their first doubles match, qualifying for the Round of 16.

Sam Sippel will represent the Broncos at the ITA All-American Championship in Tulsa, Okla. His first singles match is set for 11 a.m. on Oct. 2.
