Bronco Duo Reaches Quarterfinals at ITA All-American Championships

CARY, N.C. - Pauline Ernstberger and Shauna Heffernan reached the quarterfinals of the ITA All-American Championships, the best finish in the Pre-Qualifying Draw from a Bronco duo at the event since 2008.

The tandem started out strong in the Pre-Qualifying Doubles Draw, defeating a pair from Penn, 8-5, and Memphis, 8-7(5). In the quarterfinals, the two Broncos fell to Wisconsin in a tiebreak, 8-7(3).

Ernstberger also competed in the Qualifying Singles Draw of the tournament and was bested by Tanya Sasnouskaya (Texas), the No. 1 seed of the draw, 6-2, 6-3 in the opening round. The senior was then taken down by Csilla Fodor of Purdue, 6-2, 6-3.

In the Qualifying Doubles Draw, Nicole Discenza and Lorelyz Marruffo lost to tandems from TCU and Arizona, 8-5 and 8-6, respectively.

Top Broncos

Pauline Ernstberger and Shauna Heffernan went 2-1 in the Pre-Qualifying Draw of the tournament and made a quarterfinal appearance.

What's Next

The Broncos will travel to Long Beach, Calif., to play in the Beach Tennis Fall Tournament, Oct. 6-8.
