Broncos Go 16-8 at Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge

DALLAS – Boise State men's tennis concluded the 2023 fall campaign in solid fashion, going a combined 17-7 at SMU's Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge this weekend in Dallas.

One Broncos finished the weekend undefeated in singles as James Van Herzeele went 4-0 to lead the four-man contingent at the tournament. John Chin was next in singles at 3-1.

Meanwhile, both Caden Moortgat and Jan Lucca Marquardt went 2-2 in singles as Boise State combined for an impressive 12-4 mark in singles against strong competition from Arkansas, SMU, Rice and Tulsa.

The three-day competition was a hidden dual format, with the Broncos playing the same four teams in doubles as well, finishing 5-3 overall.

Leading the way in doubles were Moortgat and Marquardt, who won all four of their contests, while Chin and Van Herzeele went 1-3.

Notables

Moortgat and Marquardt each went a combined 6-2 at the tournament, going 2-2 in singles and 4-0 in doubles.
Van Herzeele went 5-3 overall, going 4-0 in singles and 1-3 in doubles.
Chin finished 4-4 overall, 3-1 in singles and 1-3 in doubles.
Van Herzeele won all four of his singles contests in straight sets.
