Broncos Drop Road Contest to Wyoming

LARAMIE, Wyo. – Boise State opened Mountain West play with a 61-47 loss to Wyoming, Saturday afternoon.

Nine different Broncos (9-5, 0-1 MW) scored in the contest, led by 13 points from Natalie Pasco. Dani Bayes, Elodie Lalotte and Abby Muse each added six points for the squad.

Boise State started off dominant, scoring eight of its first nine points in the paint to take an 11-8 lead at the first quarter media break. The Cowgirls (6-6, 1-0 MW) responded with a 11-0 run to lead by eight with two minutes remaining in the period. Pasco stopped the scoring drought, netting five consecutive points to cut the lead to 19-16 after the first ten minutes.

Lalotte and Linsey Lovrovich scored back-to-back layups to cut the Cowgirl lead to one midway through the second period, but Wyoming rattled off seven consecutive points to take an eight-point lead. Muse stopped the run with a layup, but Malene Pederson nailed a turnaround jumper at the buzzer to give Wyoming a 34-26 halftime lead.

Boise State struggled to find the basket in the third quarter, shooting 6-of-23 from the field in the period. The Cowgirls extended its lead to double-digits midway through the frame, but Boise State cut the lead to 47-38 entering the final period.  

Wyoming extended its advantage to 13 early in the fourth quarter, but the Broncos battled back, cutting the lead to eight with 5:52 left in the contest. The Cowgirls responded with a 6-0 spurt to grab a 14-point lead. Wyoming outscored Boise State 14-9 in the final period to solidify the victory.

- Natalie Pasco led the Broncos with 13 points. The sophomore shot 6-of-13 from the field and pulled down three rebounds.
- Mary Kay Naro recorded five points, six rebounds and five assists.
- Elodie Lalotte recorded six points and eight rebounds.
