Broncos Record Run-Rule Victory

SAN DIEGO – Boise State defeated Utah Tech 10-2 in five innings, Thursday at the Torero Classic, hosted by San Diego.
The Broncos (2-4) recorded their first mercy-rule victory of the season, collecting eight hits.
The Trailblazers (3-3) were first to get on the board in the top of the third. The Broncos responded with three runs in the home half of the inning. Eliyah Flores doubled in a run and Serena Huchingson plated two more with a double of her own.
After Utah Tech scored one at the top of the fifth, Boise State recorded seven runs in the bottom of the frame. Sydney Groves' three-run home run led to the run-rule victory for the Broncos. Lindsey Walljasper (2-1) pitched into the fifth and Taylor Caudill worked out of a bases loaded jam in relief to earn her first save of the season.

"This was a great response and start to the weekend for us," said head coach Justin Shults. "To get a quality start from Lindsey [Walljasper] and to pass the ball to Taylor [Caudill] and watch her do what she did with bases loaded, no outs, and get us out of that jam was impressive."
