BOISE, Idaho – Boise State started Mountain West play on the right foot as the Broncos took down Nevada 4-0 Saturday afternoon at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center.

The Broncos (8-4, 1-0 MW) dominated in doubles, winning court three 6-0 before taking the victory on court one 6-1 to claim the doubles point and the early 1-0 lead over the Wolf Pack (5-4, 0-1 MW).

In singles, Nicole Discenza began the scoring as she took down Gabriella Charalampidi, 6-1, 6-0, on court six, followed by a 6-0, 6-2 showing from Joana Baptista on court four that gave Boise State a 3-0 advantage. Soon after the Broncos clinched the match courtesy of a 6-3, 6-3 victory on court five by Shauna Heffernan.

"Nevada really came out firing after that doubles point and came out playing really well to put us down early on a couple of singles courts," said head coach Beck Roghaar. "It was really awesome to see our girls battle back the way they did and get themselves going and back into the match."
"I think we all did a really good job," said Nicole Discenza. "Everyone across the board did what they were supposed to do and it feels good to have the first win of the conference season, especially playing at home."

Notables

Boise State has won its conference-opening match in two of the last three seasons.
Shauna Heffernan won her team-leading 15th singles match of the year. Her and Joana Baptista lead the Broncos with six wins apiece in the spring duals season.
