BOISE, Idaho – Boise State women's soccer has added Sophia Avalos to the incoming 2023 class, head coach Jim Thomas announced Monday afternoon.

Avalos is a local product out of Mountain View High School where she played forward for the Mavericks. After earning 5A All-State Second Team honors as a freshman in 2019, Avalos garnered a All-SIC First Team nod as a junior in 2021. Playing for Boise Thorns ECNL club team, Avalos helped her team to a 2018 US Youth National Presidents Cup championship. Avalos is also a standout student, earning an academic award for having a 3.5 GPA or higher in each of her four years at Mountain View.

What Coach Thomas Says: "Sophia has been the heart and soul of every team that she's played for and we're expecting her to be the exact same for us. She's a multifaceted attacking player with a great eye for goal and a quickness that I think will impact us right away. What really draws us to her is how much she bleeds blue. She's been raised as a Bronco by Broncos to become a Bronco, and we're just happy that we could fulfill that for her and are excited to see the impact she's going to have both on the pitch and in the locker room."
