Broncos Qualify Seven for NCAA West Preliminary Round

BOISE, Idaho - Seven Boise State track & field student-athletes qualified for the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field West Preliminary Round, the NCAA announced Thursday.

The west preliminary will take place in Sacramento, Calif., May 24-27.

MaLeigha Menegatti highlighted the Broncos' qualifiers, ranking fifth in the women's 800-meter race after breaking the meet record at the 2023 Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a time of 2:02.41.

Yasmin Marghini (5,000m), Nyenuchi Okemgbo (400m hurdles), Autumn Ost (10,000m), and Kaiya Robertson (1500m) also qualified on the women's side.

This marks Menegatti's third appearance at the west preliminary and Marghini and Okemgbo's second.
Â
Jonathan Shields led the men's team, earning a spot in both the 1,500m and 5,000m races. This will be Shields' third appearance at the west preliminary.

Additionally, Mohammed Jouhari will compete in the 10,000m race.
