MaLeigha Menegatti competing in women's 800m first round at the NCAA West Preliminaries in Sacramento, Calif.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - MaLeigha Menegatti punched her ticket to the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the women's 800-meter race, recording the fifth-fastest time in the quarterfinals of the NCAA West Preliminaries, Saturday.

This marks Menegatti's first trip to the outdoor championships. The senior made an appearance at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships earlier this season after clocking a meet, conference and school-record time of 2:03.83 in the women's 800m at the Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The Pueblo West, Colo., native won the race at both the indoor and outdoor conference championships this season.

Six Broncos joined Menegatti at the preliminary round in Sacramento, including four additional women in Yasmin Marghini (5,000m), Nyenuchi Okemgbo (400m hurdles), Autumn Ost (10,000m), and Kaiya Robertson (1500m). Mohammed Jouhari (10,000m) and Jonathan Shields (1500m, 5000m) competed on the men's side.

The 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships are slated for June 7-10 in Austin, Texas. Menegatti will race Thursday, June 8, in the women's 800m semifinal at 8:14 p.m. MT. If Menegatti advances, she will compete Saturday, June 10, in the final at 8:14 p.m. MT.
