BOISE, Idaho – Boise State's volleyball team opened the season Friday night with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 32-30) sweep over instate-rival Idaho State in front of a sellout crowd of 1,397 in Bronco Gym.

Boise State dominated the first two sets, winning each by double digits. The Broncos hit .357 and held the Bengals to a -.015 during the two periods.

Set three was a battle between the two rivals as the match reached 30 points before the Broncos took the set 32-30 to clinch the sweep. The Bengals hit a match-high .360 percent in the third as the Blue and Orange countered at .347. The decisive points came from Chey Day and Paige Bartsch, who brought the victory home with block assists.

Top Broncos

Bartsch recorded a team-high 21 kills while hitting .543 percent.
Noelani Helm led the Broncos with a team-best 26 assists from the setter position.
Annie Kaminski was one of three Broncos with seven kills, but she added a team-high (tied) five blocks.
Day tallied seven kills and no errors on nine attacks to finish the match hitting .778 percent; she also had five blocks.
Breanna Mitchell led the back-line defense with a team-high 13 digs.
