Mountain West Play Begins at San Jose State
1/4/2024 10:09:00 AM | Men's Basketball
WHAT'S NEXT: Boise State men's basketball opens Mountain West play on Friday at San Jose State, Jan. 5. The game will air on FS1 at 8:30 p.m. MT, while Bob Behler and Abe Jackson will call the game on the radio on KBOI 670AM.
LAST TIME OUT: Max Rice and O'Mar Stanley combined for 42 points in a 22-point win over Utah Valley, 85-63. Boise State was +18 on the boards while holding the Wolverines to 38% shooting from the field to win its 21st-straight game at home – tied with Oral Roberts for the longest streak in the country.
MOUNTAIN WEST OPENER: A win Friday would move Boise State to 9-4 in Mountain West openers since joining the conference ahead of the 2011-12 season. The Broncos are 3-3 in Mountain West openers on the road, with the last win coming at Wyoming in 2018-19 (69-55).
Last year's Mountain West opener was a 74-72 loss at Nevada.
MAKING A NAME FOR HIMSELF: Since joining the starting lineup for the first time against Saint Mary's (Dec. 1), junior forward O'Mar Stanley has been on a tear. He is averaging 12.6 ppg and 5.9 rpg. He has two 20-point games and a double-double in that span.
THOUSAND POINT CLUB: Both Max Rice and Tyson Degenhart surpassed the 1,000-point milestone against Utah Valley. It is the first time a pair of teammates has surpassed the milestone in program history. It is believed to be the first time two teammates have hit 1,000 career points in the same game since SIU had two players accomplish the feat in a Feb. 19, 2022 win over Indiana State. The Sycamores also had a player hit 1,000 points in that game — all three in the first half.
