Broncos Battle No. 4 Utes in 2024 Season Opener

SALT LAKE CITY – The Boise State gymnastics team was defeated by No. 4 Utah, 197.300-194.350, Friday night at Jon M Huntsman Center.

Senior Courtney Blackson led the team, earning the top scores on both vault (9.825) and floor (9.875).

The Broncos started off the night on bars. Senior Emily Lopez posted the squad's top score with a 9.875. Fifth-year Adriana Popp helped lead the charge for the Broncos during the second rotation on vault, scoring a 9.800.

Blackson continued to shine in the team's third rotation on floor with a score of 9.875. Junior trio Emma Loyim, Elaina McGovern and Blake Pascal recorded a 9.825, 9.800 and 9.825 on floor, respectively. As a team, the Broncos posted their highest score in a rotation at 48.950.

Boise State concluded its competition on beam. Loyim led the Broncos with a score of 9.775, followed by Sydney Leitch, whose 9.750 mark was a career best.
