
Broncos Edged in Five at Wyoming

LARAMIE, Wyo. – Boise State lost a heartbreaker in Laramie, Wyoming, Saturday night, falling in five sets 25-21, 22-25, 11-25, 25-23, 15-12 as the Cowgirls rallied for the Mountain West victory.

Set one was tight until Wyoming used a 7-1 run midway through to take a 21-17 advantage. The Broncos did not recover from that run as the Cowgirls took the set 25-21. Â

After trailing early in the second, Boise State regrouped to take its first lead following a 4-0 run to go up 7-4. The set remained tight throughout, but the Broncos never trailed again and won it 25-22.

The Blue and Orange took control of the third set early on a 10-1 run to put them up 14-4. The Cowgirls had no answer for the Broncos' offense as Boise State rolled to a 14-point victory, 25-11.

The fourth set was a battle featuring four lead changes and 11 ties. The Cowgirls took the lead at 16-15, then held off the Broncos down the stretch for a 25-23 win to force the contest to a fifth set.

Boise State jumped out to a 7-4 lead in the fifth but could not hold on as the Cowgirls rallied. Wyoming used a 4-0 run down the stretch to win the set 15-12 and clinch the match.

- Kiki Remensperger led with her first career triple-double on 12 kills, 26 assists and 26 digs, all career highs.
- Paige Bartsch had a team-high 17 kills with 14 digs for her sixth double-double of the season.
- Annie Kaminski had 13 kills and five blocks.
- Anabel Kotzakov earned her first double-double of the season on 10 kills and 14 digs with four blocks.
- Lilli Etter had her fifth double-double of the year on a career-high 23 assists and 14 digs.
- Bre Mitchell turned in her second double-double of the weekend and of her career with 10 assists and season-high 29 digs.
NOTABLES
- Kiki Remensperger had a triple-double heading into the fourth set 10 kills, 15 assists and 13 digs. It was the first triple-double at Boise State since Nov. 12, 2011, when Bree Nesselhuf had 13 kills, 30 assists, and 15 digs against UNLV.
- Paige Bartsch recorded her 26th career double-double and 72nd match with double-figure kills.
- Layla Smith had a team and career-high eight blocks.
- Boise State had five players record eight or more kills with four in double-digits.
- Boise State had five players with double-digit digs, two with 20-plus.
- Boise State as a team had 106 digs, the most since Aug. 26, 2011, against Pacific.
