
Orange Powers Past Blue in Game 2 of Fall World Series

BOISE, Idaho -Â Senior Mykenzie Hanna homered twice and drove in five runs as Team Orange defeated Team Blue 8-3 in Game 2 of the 2024 Boise State Softball Fall World Series.
Sophomore Leah McAnally also belted a two-run home run for the winners. Senior Brook Thompson retired all 11 hitters she faced in relief, including four strikeouts, to earn the victory in the circle.
Team Blue jumped out to a 2-0 lead with with a run scoring on an error in the first and a home run by junior Sydney Groves leading off the third. Hanna's two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the third tied the game. Team Orange scored seven of its eight runs with two outs.
Sophomore Kaylee Vieira homered leading off the fourth to put Team Blue on top 3-2 before Team Orange rallied in the bottom of the frame.
With one out, sophomore Keely Gousha and freshman Talia Jenkins singled and freshman Quinn Southerland walked to load the bases. Team Orange tied the game on an RBI-fielder's choice off the bat of sophomore Sophia Knight. Hanna followed with a three-run home run to cap the rally and give Team Orange a 6-3 lead.
McAnally's blast in the sixth put the game out of reach.
Team Orange lead the series 1-0-1 with Game 3 scheduled for Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
