Broncos Sweep Air Force to Clinch MW Championship Berth

USAFA, Colo. – Annie Kaminski recorded a season-high 15 kills and hit .636 in the match to lead Boise State to a road sweep at Air Force 25-17, 25-15, 26-24.
 
The win improved Boise State to 17-10 overall and 9-8 in conference play and clinched a berth into the Mountain West Championship at Las Vegas in two weeks.
 
Boise State outhit Air Force .264 percent to .075 percent for a 45 to 28 advantage in kills. They also had a 7-1 edge in service aces and dominated the net with 10 blocks to AFA's four.
 
Boise State used an early 4-0 run to take control of the opening set, up 8-3 on the Falcons. The Broncos never trailed after that run and led by as many as 10 points before taking it by seven, 25-18. Kaminski was a perfect 6-for-6 in kills to lead the Blue and Orange in the period.
 
Tied at 4-4 in the second, Boise State rolled off another early run, 6-1, to take control up 10-5. They maintained the advantage and led by as many as 11 at 23-12 before taking it by 10 points at 25-15.
 
Set three was a battle as Air Force attempted to force a fourth set. The teams traded five leads and were tied 11 times. Down 19-16, Boise State rallied with a 5-2 run to tie it at 21-21. The Broncos took the lead at match point up 24-23; they would win it on the second match point on a Kiki Remensperger kill to win the set 26-24 and clinch the sweep.

TOP BRONCOS

  • Annie Kaminski led the Broncos with a season-high 15 kills while hitting a team-best .636 (15-1-22); she also had team highs for blocks with five and points with 17.5, a season-high for points.
  • Kiki Remensperger had team highs for assists with 21 and digs with 14 to go with three kills, two service aces and three blocks.
  • Paige Bartsch had nine kills, five blocks and 9.5 points.
  • Reagan Casey had five kills and tied Kaminski with a team-high five blocks.

NOTABLES

  • Kiki Remensperger recorded her team-high 12th double-double (including two triple-doubles) of the year.
  • Annie Kaminski's five blocks gave her 362 in her career to move within five of tying for ninth all-time at Boise State.
  • Paige Bartsch has 1,486 career kills, 24 short of tying for second-place all-time at Boise State.
  • Bre Mitchell had one service ace tonight, moving her into a tie with Bartsch for the team-high at 44 and a tie for the fourth most in a season during the Rallying Scoring Era (since 2001).
  • Reagan Casey tied her Boisse State career high for blocks at five.
  • Kiersten Van Kirk tied her season-high for blocks with four.
  • Kayleigh Carpenter and Lilli Etter tied their career high for service aces with two each.
  • Tonight's victory gave Boise State a season sweep and extended its lead in the all-time series with Air Force to 21-7.
