12/27/2024 11:00:00 AM | Women's Basketball

WHAT'S NEXT: Boise State will begin Mountain West play against San Diego State on Sunday, Dec. 29, in Viejas Arena. The game will tip off at 2 p.m. MT and will be broadcast on the MW Network and 670 KBOI AM.

THE OPPONENT: The Broncos (10-3) will play in their first road contest of the season against the Aztecs (11-2). The matchup consists of two of the three MW teams that have garnered 10+ wins so far on the season. Boise State will be searching for its first win in Viejas Arena since Feb. 15, 2020, when Boise State defeated San Diego State, 69-67, in overtime.

BACK AND FORTH: The contest marks the only scheduled matchup between the two teams all season. The Broncos and Aztecs have split the season series every year since the 2018-19 season, when Boise State won twice. The two teams have met twice in the MW Tournament over that span, with San Diego State winning both contests, including a 72-69 victory in the semifinal round of the MW Tournament a season ago.

HOT START: Boasting a 10-3 record, the Broncos reached 10 wins for the first time since the 2016-17 campaign and are off to their best start through 13 games since the 2018-19 season. Both of those Bronco squads ended up winning the MW Tournament and qualifying for the NCAA National Tournament.

CHASING HISTORY: With the program's all-time block record already under her name, Abby Muse has her sights set on yet another program mark. The Brentwood, Calif., native enters the contesta against the Aztecs with 1,009 career rebounds, 16 rebounds shy of the program record (1,025) set by Karla Meier (1977-82).

BLOCK PARTY: Muse is still up to her usual habits on the defensive side of the ball. The fifth year is currently ranked sixth in the nation in total blocks (33) and 13th nationwide in blocks per game (2.5). As a team, the Broncos sit 11th nationally with 6.0 blocks per game.

SHOOTING STREAK: Natalie Pasco has been on a tear as of late, scoring in double figures in four consecutive contests. The sharpshooter is currently ranked 19th nationally in 3-point percentage, drilling 45.5% of her attempts from beyond the arc. The junior enters league play second among MW players in total 3-pointers (30) and 3-pointers per game (2.3). The Danville, Calif., native has recorded five games with 4+ 3-pointers on the season.

SHARING THE ROCK: Boise State has dished out 20 or more assists in three of its last four contests. The Broncos have recorded 20+ assists in four games on the season, already topping last year's total of three.
