Rueck Earns Exemption to 2024 Scottish Open with Win at Genesis Collegiate Showcase

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – It took two playoff holes, but Cole Rueck emerged victorious at the Genesis Collegiate Showcase, Monday at the Riviera Country Club, to earn an exemption to the 2024 Scottish Open.
Rueck defeated Washington's Petr Hruby with a short putt for birdie on the second playoff hole. Both players carded an even-par 71. Both players made par on the 10th hole, and it was on the 11th that Rueck's seven-foot putt for birdie was enough to earn medalist honors.
This is the second-consecutive year the event needed extra holes to crown a champion
Rueck is only the second Mountain West golfer to win the event – he followed in the footsteps of San Jose State's Sean Yu (2020).
This marks the first time the Genesis Collegiate Showcase winner has earned an exemption to the Scottish Open, July 11-14, at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland.
Rueck will return to action with the rest of the Boise State men's golf team at the end of the month with the Loyola Intercollegiate, Feb. 25-27, in Goodyear, Ariz.
