Broncos Set for Home Clash with Oregon and Minnesota

  • WHAT'S NEXT: Boise State will host a pair of matches at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center over the weekend, beginning with a clash against Oregon on Friday, Feb. 16 at noon MT. The Broncos will then take on Minnesota on Sunday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. MT.
  • SCOUTING THE DUCKS: Oregon enters the weekend with a 4-3 record, defeating UC Santa Barbara 4-3 on Feb. 10 before losing to Denver the following day, 4-3. The Ducks currently lead the all-time series against the Broncos 10-3, including wins in each of the last three matchups.
  • SCOUTING THE GOLDEN GOPHERS: Minnesota enters the weekend undefeated, boasting a 6-0 record. The Golden Gophers have found strong success in singles, going a combined 30-0 in spots two through six. The Broncos currently lead the series with the Golden Gophers 2-0, marking the first face-off for the teams since 2004.
  • 10-WIN CLUB: Doubles pair Lorelyz Marruffo and Nicole Discenza earned their 10th win of the season this past weekend with a win over College of Idaho's Hristina Ljuba and Nicole Tran, 6-2 (Feb. 9). The tandem is nearing 20-career doubles wins, currently sitting with 19 victories with an overall winning percentage of 54.3%. Discenza and Ella Piron also reached 10 singles wins on the season with the victory over College of Idaho. Discenza has a winning percentage of 67.5% in singles, while freshman Piron currently holds a 66.7% winning percentage.
  • NEARING 10: Pauline Ernstberger and Bhakti Shah are both nearing 10 singles wins this season and could reach the mark during this weekend's matches. Ernstberger and Shah currently sit at eight victories, with winning percentages of 65.4% and 57.1%, respectively.
  • CLIMBING THE LEADERBOARD: Ernstberger and Shauna Heffernan are now tied for 14th for most dual match wins as a pair in program history. The duo now hold 19 victories and are chasing Renate Stoop and Alissa Ayling with 20 wins, who played for the Broncos as a pair in 2002-03.
