Broncos Top No. 19 Iowa State as Blackson Ties School Record

BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State gymnastics team outlasted Iowa State to earn a dual victory, defeating the No. 19 Cyclones, 196.525-195.550. Senior Courtney Blackson led the Broncos with the highest overall score, tying the school record on floor with a 9.950. Boise State's team score is their highest of the 2024 campaign.

Through the first two rotations, the Broncos and Cyclones were deadlocked. Boise State scored 48.875 on vault to begin the night, with Iowa State matching that score on bars. The teams traded events for the second rotation, both scoring 49.175 to even the meet at 98.050. Emily Lopez led the Broncos on bars, scoring 9.875 to tie for first.

The Blue and Orange had the slight edge in the third rotation, posting a 49.225 on beam while the Cyclones scored 49.175 on floor. The Broncos outscored Iowa State in the final rotation, 49.250-48.325, securing a home victory. Blackson's historic floor performance paced a Bronco effort that compiled the night's top rotation score.

The win improves Boise State to 6-2, while the Cyclones fall to 2-3.

Courtney Blackson tied the school record with a 9.950 on floor, finishing first.
Emily Lopez tied for first on bars, scoring 9.875. The senior also scored 9.875 on beam, tying for second.
Elaina McGovern matched three career-bests, including a 9.900 on floor that gave her a second-place finish.

Courtney Blackson scored 9.950 on floor, tying the program record. This is the 26th time a Bronco has scored 9.950 and gives Blackson a share of the school record in two events, vault and floor.
Elaina McGovern matched her career-highs on floor (9.900), bars (9.750) and vault (9.700).
Blackson's victory was her second of the season and first on floor. She has three career floor wins and 12 career event wins.
Emily Lopez scored 9.875 on bars to tie for first, her second bars victory and third total win of the season. The senior has nine bars wins and 19 career victories.
Adriana Popp scored 9.850 on vault, matching her top score of the season.
Sydney Leitch recorded a career-high 9.825 on beam.
On vault, Lopez posted a season-best of 9.825 and Sydney Kho matched her career-best of 9.750.
