Rams Upend Boise State at Moby

2/6/2024 9:18:00 PM | Men's Basketball

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – An 8-2 Boise State run pulled the team within six points, but Colorado State was able to pull away late to hand the Broncos a 75-62 loss, Tuesday at Moby Arena.

Roddie Anderson III made a 3-pointer, three free throws from the duo of Tyson Degenhart and O'Mar Stanley and a jumper from Andrew Meadow pulled Boise State (16-7, 7-3 MW) within six points with 13:09 remaining.

Degenhart grabbed an offensive rebound after the Rams (18-5, 6-4 MW) gave the ball away off a Jalen Lake miss. Anderson turned the ball over after he went down with an injured leg, and Colorado State went on a 7-0 run to pull ahead.

Degenhart finished with a team-high 25 points – his seventh 20-point game of the season.

Quotable
  • "This may have been one of the most physical Colorado State teams we've seen and it was just one of those nights where shots just weren't falling," said head coach Leon Rice. "Give Colorado State a ton of credit tonight though because this is a tough league and that's the hard part of playing in it."
Top Broncos
  • Tyson Degenhart scored 25 points with seven boards and an assist.
  • Max Rice recorded 11 points, seven rebounds and a steal.
  • Chibuzo Agbo added seven points, three rebounds and an assist.
Notable
  • Colorado State entered the game averaging 79.8 points per game, held to 75 — Boise State has held all 10 Mountain West opponents below their season scoring average.
  • The Broncos shot 39.3% from the field in the first half, their lowest first-half shooting percentage since the first half against Colorado State earlier this season.
  • This is Boise State's first loss on the road in Mountain West play this season — the last team to lose on the road in conference play this season.
  • At 15-8, Boise State is still the winningest team in the conference on the road since the start of the 2021-22 season.
  • Losses by Boise State and Utah State, coupled with a New Mexico win creates a three-way tie for first place in the Mountain West.
  • Boise State's seven assists are tied for its fewest of the season.
  • The Broncos only had two scorers reach double figures for the first time in a Mountain West game this season.
