Broncos Host Wyoming on Saturday

WHAT'S NEXT

Boise State will host a rematch against Wyoming, Saturday, Feb. 10, at 1 p.m. MT in ExtraMile Arena. The game will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network and on 670 KBOI AM.

THE OPPONENT

The Cowgirls (14-8, 9-2 MW) enter Saturday's showdown ranked second in the MW and on a two-game winning streak. Wyoming boasts one of the most efficient offenses in the conference, shooting a league-best 45.4% percent from the floor. The Cowgirls are led by All-MW honoree Allyson Fertig, who averags 13.9 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.

ROUND ONE

Wyoming won the first bout between the two teams, defeating the Broncos (15-8, 6-4 MW) 61-47 on Dec. 30 in Laramie, Wyo. Natalie Pasco scored a team-high 13 points in the contest, but Boise State's had trouble shooting from deep, making only one of its 17 long range attempts.

SOMETHING HAS TO GIVE

To counter Wyoming's offensive firepower, the Broncos will use their stout defensive presence. Boise State leads the conference in scoring defense (57.2 points per game) and field goal percentage defense (36.4%). The Broncos are also third in 3-point percentage defense, holding opponents to 28.8% shooting from deep.

LAST TIME OUT

Boise State used a dominant second half to pick up its second-straight victory, trouncing San Jose State, 73-42, Wednesday night at ExtraMile Arena. With the game tied at halftime, the Broncos held the Spartans to just 13 second-half points to claim their second 30-point victory in conference play. Pasco scored 16 of her game-high 19 points in the second half, while Tatum Thompson added 14 points off the bench.

MILESTONE ALERT

Head coach Gordy Presnell has a chance to reach not one but two milestones on Saturday. He enters the contest tied with Elaine Elliot (Utah, 1990-2010) for second in MW history with 130 league wins. Presnell could also pick up his 350th win as the head coach of the Broncos, entering the showdown with a 349-235 record at Boise State.
