Broncos Upended in MW Quarterfinal

3/14/2024 11:50:00 PM | Men's Basketball

LAS VEGAS – A slow start put Boise State in a hole that it could not overcome, as the Broncos dropped their quarterfinal matchup to New Mexico, 76-66, Thursday at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Boise State (22-10) opened 2-for-10 from the field and went into the locker room trailing 35-26 at halftime. The Lobos (24-9) shot 15-of-26 from the field in the second half to weather multiple Bronco rallies to pull the game within two possessions.

Roddie Anderson III drilled an opener 3-pointer from the right-wing on the second effort to pull within four points 68-64 with 54 seconds left – but a strategic foul led to two free throws and extended the New Mexico lead back to six points.

The Lobos did not make a field goal in the final 3:10 of the game.
