SALT LAKE CITY – Boise State's offense was held to one hit by Utah's Mariah Lopez and the Broncos were blanked 4-0, Wednesday.

The loss ended a season-high nine-game winning streak for the Broncos (20-11). The Utes (17-11) won their ninth-consecutive nonconference game.

"Out pitching staff did everything it could to keep us in the game," head coach Justin Shults said. "Our offense did not do enough to support the performance in the circle."

Utah took advantage of two errors by Boise State in the first inning to score a pair of unearned runs off Abby Dowell (5-3). The Utes added a run in the fourth against Dowell and another in the sixth with Jenna Bloom in the circle.

Boise State put two runners on with two outs in the first, but did not manage a hit until the seventh.

In the final frame, Sydney Groves led off with a walk. With one out, Jordyn Hutchins ended Lopez's no-hit bid with a double. Pinch hitter Skylar Stroh was hit by a pitch to load the bases, but Lopez induced a ground ball double play off the bat off Abby Bumcrot to end the game.
